  • Re: Blue Tongue Control Zones

I'm afraid there is more bad news to come for the south east. On 15 November the export rules will change again and they won't do anyone in the former F&M risk zone any favours at all, in fact they'll put us further back in terms of prime sales than we are now. I was shown a map defining...

Additionally, any animals which moved onto holdings before today, but haven't yet served out a 20 day standstill are...

  • Re: isolation units

Isolation units are now approved for use, but for breeding rams only. DEFRA said "A 20 day standstill means that no animal can move off a premises if within the previous 20 days a susceptible animal has moved on to those premises. The standstill does not apply to an animal that is being moved from...

The valuations are being undertaken by independent DEFRA approved valuers who are valuing stock at market value. Hope this helps, Jonathan Long, FW Livestock Editor

I'm told that nine contiguous farms were culled today, as sign of the seriousness of the situation evolving in the PZ as the disease continues to spring up. Meanwhile, I believe a meeting is underway this evening to establish the protocol for a welfare cull scheme for south east England. Its sad...
