  • Consumers and the Credit Crunch - Latest Views on Food Buying Behaviour

In the words of Justin King of Sainsbury, speaking during a business performance update last week - “the consumer is in a bad place just now”. Which is not really surprising, given the amount of depressing economic news. Nevertheless, both Sainsbury and Morrisons, who also gave a business update last...

The only difference I feel this time round is that it's a recession caused by a lack of credit and I guess that might impact on all businesses - including ag. TV programme...

  • Bash a banker?

I've just taken a call from a lady at Cheetah TV who are making a programme about how the current financial crisis is affecting small businesses. They plan to put a banker recently made redundant face to face with the consequences of their actions by bringing them onto a farm to see the impact for...

  • Merry Christmas. Now give us the money back !!

Having just read Jane Kings leader in this fantastic christmas issue of Farmers Weekly, I have to say I disagree with her. Yet,having some understanding of sales may be helpful for producers to gauge...

  • Re: What do you make of this kind of advertising?

It is great that our summer campaign is creating such interest on the FWi forum, prompted by the photos of Nell McAndrew. That’s precisely why we enlisted the support of Nell – to generate the kind of publicity that will help carry our campaign messages. The picture ensured that our positive messages...

  • Organic Market Outlook

The media's fascination with the organics market continues but this time with the focus on how it is faring during the credit crunch. The question of how a sector which is still less than two percent of total food sales can command so many column inches will be tackled another day. The more pressing...
