    Yes our border controls don't seem to have the rigour, when it comes to diseases and food, that you get in NZ or Australia. When arriving at either of those countries you are left in no doubt about the seriousness with which they take biosecurity - even going as far as sniffer dogs for that purpose...

    Am I right in thinking movement rules means 6 days of no movement in or out after you have brought something onto the farm? We have been told different things round here, some people say movement rules begin when you take from the farm as well. Also, anyone know how long penicillin will continue to work...

    The Sunday Telegraph has picked up on news that the virus could have gone unnoticed for more than a week at Stroude Farm, near Egham. It says animals probably harboured the disease for up to three weeks because their lesions were 10 days old and had begun to heal. Johann

  • Dorking case clear

    Good news the restricted zone around the farm in Dorking has been lifted. There were plenty of worried faces when we heard about that one at first. Although the farmer has always remained confident symptoms weren't that of foot and mouth. Let's hope further movement restrictions can be moved...
