i'm at reading uni, studying agricultural business management. think it's a brilliant course, though maybe a little less 'hands on' than the courses you'll get at the ag colleges. however, we still do a fair amount of farm visits and reading's a pretty respected name in the farming world :) i'd definitely recommend it if anyone's looking for courses to join
i'm not from a farming background either. currently at reading uni studying agricultural business management and absolutely loving it. though it's not one of the colleges aimed towards agriculture, it's still got a bloody good reputation and being a uni has a more rounded spectrum of people to socialise with - ie i have my agric friends and then mates who do building surveying, philosophy, english etc. plus, it's in a town rather than the middle of nowhere, so nightlife is pretty good. definite thumbs up from me if you're looking for somewhere to study
arable ftw. you have to love sitting on big kit - though i have to admit, having a few beef sucklers would be lovvvvvely as well. i agree with charliemoo - must be brilliant to see an animal go from start to finish. aaaaah, maybe when i'm in charge... ha
