Entries for the Farmers Weekly awards close on 30 April, and pig farmers are urged to nominate someone or enter themselves.
Even making the final three of Pig Farmer of the Year is a boon for a business, with finalists invited down to the Grosvenor House Hotel in London this October for the biggest celebration in agriculture.
But winning the award is one of the top accolades a farmer can receive. It has helped previous winners gain new business, win support and generate positive local press coverage.

It doesn’t matter what production method or amount of experience you have – anyone can enter. We’re simply looking for excellence in farming.
Last year’s winner, Ian Davidson said: “Winning the award for Pig Farmer of the Year has been the ultimate recognition for the hard work, dedication and efforts of the whole team at Moss-side, in particular pig unit manager Phil Adam and farrowing unit supervisor Helen Cruickshank.
“It has created a real buzz and sense of achievement and has encouraged us to continue trying new things to further develop the business,” he added.
