Farmer puts ‘government think-tank’ up for sale

A farmer from North Yorkshire has joined the election campaign by selling a government think-thank at his farm dispersal.

Roy Smith of Blades Farm in Easingwold, North Yorkshire is selling up on 9 April as he is fed up with the bureaucracy and red tape swamping farming.

He is famous in his region for having a slurry tank with ‘Government Think Tank’ painted on the side.

The 900gal slurry tanker, which is regularly seen by thousands of people who drive past the farm on the B163 between Stillington and Easingwold, will form one of the lots during the sale.

Tom Oates resident auctioneer and a partner of George F. White, which is running the sale, said: “We never anticipated that this sale would be so perfectly timed!”
