The closing date for entering the 2009 Farmers Weekly Awards has now closed and the process of agreeing the shortlisted finalists is underway.

“The entries have been fantastic,” says Awards Director Debbie Beaton: “The judges now have the very difficult task of selecting a shortlist of three for each category.”

A judging panel for each category, including an independent judge, last year’s winner and a Farmers Weekly journalist will be visiting the three shortlisted finalists during the course of the summer.

From those visits a winner is chosen and their name revealed at the Awards Night on Thursday 8 October in the London Grosvenor House Hotel. This is a fantastic occasion, when the whole industry comes together to celebrate the innovation and commitment of British farmers (find out more about table bookings here).

Look out for the shortlist of finalists early next month in Farmers Weekly and here on FWi.
