Tens of thousands of hunters are expected to turn out on the opening day of the season on Saturday (Nov 5).

The Countryside Alliance has warned that packs will be hunting despite the ban – albeit packs will be operating within the law.

Alliance chief executive Simon Hart said: “Hunts around the country will continue to go out within the law to show their defiance of the Hunting Act.

“It will also show their determination to maintain the infrastructure of hunts and retain the cohesion of our local communities until this ‘temporary’ ban is repealed.”
