Reg Haydon, chairman of the Tenant Farmers Association, was one of a number of figures in the agricultural industry who were rewarded in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

“It is a great honour and I am delighted, especially for the tenanted sector in agriculture, which I have represented for some time,” he said, following news of his OBE.

Senior staff at DEFRA were also recognised, as were a number of farmers, conservationists and natural scientists.

Prof Jules Petty from the University of Essex saw his OBE as “welcome recognition of the importance of sustainability in our agricultural and food systems”.
