Organisers of the Game Fair 2008 have announced record attendance over the three days, of 151,000 visitors.

This marks a 13,000 increase over the previous level, when the event was at Broadlands in Hampshire. This year, the event was at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire.

“The sun shone, business was buoyant and the atmosphere convivial and happy,” according to the organisers, who have dubbed this the most successful Game Fair ever.

The determination of people to attend after last year’s cancellation, the fact that it was the show’s 50th anniversary and the popular venue all contributed to the figure, according to show director David Hough.

“This is a huge event bringing tens of thousands of extra people into the area every day and generating a multi-million pound boost for the local economy,” he says.

“It has been an absolutely brilliant event. The atmosphere all around the showground has been fantastic and there has been a real buzz around the place for all three days.”
