A three-year-old boy has died after he was hit by a tractor on a Somerset farm.

South West Ambulance Service sent three crews and an air ambulance to the farm at Whatley, near Frome, at about 10:30 am on Tuesday (12 November).

The injured boy was taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath at about 1pm but medical staff were unable to save him.

An investigation is being carried out by Avon and Somerset Police and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

A spokesman for the Health and Safety Executive said initial enquiries were under way and inspectors had visited the farm.

The spokesman added: “As always, when a fatality is involved the police are leading enquiries at this stage.”
