Farmers Apprentice – Terms and Conditions

  1. You warrant that you are aged between 18 and 25 years old on the date of 20th July 2016, and are legally entitled to work in the UK without restriction. If required by Farmers Weekly (‘the Company’), you agree to provide the Company with documentary evidence to substantiate your age and entitlement to work in the UK without restriction.
  2. These terms and conditions relate to your application to take part in the competition known as the ‘Farmers Apprentice’ (‘the Competition’). You should be aware that the information provided by you in entering the Competition (and any other information supplied by you to the Company) may be used in programmes broadcast by the Company on the website at url www.fwi.co.uk/farmersapprentice (‘the Programmes’) should you be selected. Please read the data protection policy detailed in paragraph 15 below. You should also be aware that the competition is run in association with the following third parties (‘the Sponsors’): Bayer CropScience, The Co-operative, Farmcare Ltd and New Holland Agriculture. Please read the agreement with sponsors in paragraph 16 below.
  3. Applicants will be selected at the sole discretion of the Company, whose decision will be final.
  4. You agree to attend any interviews, auditioning processes, competitions, events and promotional activities relating to the Competition if required by the Company, on any dates as notified to you by the Company.
  5. You agree to abide by the rules, regulations, terms and conditions of the programme (the “Rules”) which may be varied from time to time by the Company and you further agree that the Company’s decision is final and binding.
  6. Neither the Company nor its sponsors will accept responsibility for entries lost, delayed, misdirected, damaged, illegible or undelivered.
  7. Neither the Company nor its sponsors accept any responsibility for any damage, loss or disappointment suffered by any entrant entering the competition. We are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction to computer on-line systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment or software, failure of any entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination of these, including any injury or damage to entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from the submission of this entry form.
  8. You agree to undertake a medical and/or psychological assessment, conducted by a certified practitioner, if required by the Company.
  9. You hereby warrant that you have truthfully and accurately completed this application form and acknowledge and agree that the Company may in its sole discretion disqualify you from any interview, auditioning process, competition, event or the programmes at any stage if you supply or have supplied any untruthful, inaccurate or misleading details and/or information and/or have failed to abide by the Rules or are otherwise in breach of any of the terms of this application form or any other agreements entered into between you and the Company.
  10. You agree and undertake not to engage in any press, publicity or other discussions with any third party in connection with your application to be a candidate in the Competition nor shall you be entitled to enter into any commercial agreement or other agreement with any third party in connection with your application as a candidate or your appearance to be a candidate.
  11. In the event that you are invited to take part in the Competition you hereby grant all consents necessary for the Company to film and record such audition, tasks and/or interview and to use recordings featuring your image and/or voice in connection with the Programmes and/or ancillary rights and to exploit the same in all media throughout the world in perpetuity without the need for payment to you.
  12. Should you be selected to take part in the Competition you agree and undertake to enter into further contracts with the Company including without limitation a Candidates’ Agreement and you agree to abide by the terms therein.
  13. The prize is a one year career placement with Farmcare Ltd with a remuneration package worth £25,000. The prize is subject to availability, non-refundable, non-exchangeable, non-transferable and cannot be substituted for a cash alternative.
  14. The Competition is open to all UK residents aged 18 to 25 years old, excluding employees of Reed Business Information Ltd and any company in the Reed Elsevier Group plc group of companies, its associated companies of subsidiaries, their families, agents or anyone else professionally associated with this competition.
  15. Data protection fair processing statement:
    1. The Company takes your privacy very seriously. The information you provide about yourself as part of the application procedure (‘the Information’) will be used by the Company to assess whether or not to select you to take part in the Competition. If you are successful, the Company reserve the right to use the Information in connection with the production and promotion of the Programmes.
    2. The Company may use the information you provide to verify your age and identity and to carry out background checks with law enforcement and government agencies. The Company may share your information with McDonald’s, Bayer CropScience, Anglia Farmers, The Co-operative, Easton College, Edge Apprenticeships and Jack Francis Media Ltd in connection with the production and promotion of the Programmes.
    3. By submitting this application form, you consent to any sensitive personal information that you provide (for example, information relating to your health or criminal convictions) being used for the purpose of assessing your suitability for the Competition, and if successful, for the production of the Programmes.
  1. Agreement with the sponsors:
    1. The sponsors are entitled to require the Participant (whether the winning Participant or not) to participate in any reasonable publicity (whether in person or through images, promotion material or programmes) for the Sponsor’s business relevant to the Campaign or otherwise agreed with the Participant.
    2. The Participant gives their express consent for the Sponsor to use any images, film footage or other media of or produced by the Participant in internal and external communications and advertising, in any media related to the competition which the Sponsor determines.
    3. The bootcamp Participants give their express consent for their name, phone and e-mail address to be provided to the Sponsors for contact about sponsors initiatives relevant to the competition in  the future provided the sponsors at all times holds and/or processes that data in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
