An organic farm is being marketed by Cundalls near Driffield, a few miles from the coast in East Yorkshire, as autumn storms threaten to undermine the last remnants of the 2008 market.

Having owned it for about four years and invested considerable sums in it, the vendor of Carr House Farm, near Frodingham, is moving from the area.

The 190-acre holding boasts high P and K levels from its previous life as a dairy holding. Under its current ownership, it has been run as an arable/grass farm to which 25 acres of new woodlan has been added. A key component, in addition to the four-bedroom farmhouse, is a courtyard with outbuildings that have planning permission for a visitor centre and accommodation, conference centre and laboratory facilities that were originally planned to test new organic “health” crops. “The building has already been converted externally,” says Tom Watson at Cundalls, adding that for those who wish to change direction, it could be suitable for holiday cottages.

There are also comprehensive modern buildings, stabling, a manege and trout pond. Cundalls is looking for £1.6m as a whole or in six lots.
