Britain's Sexiest Farmer Vote
There have been more than 300 nominations for the Britain’s Sexiest Farmer title – and we can now reveal the shortlist.
Some of the 300-plus entries were self-nominated, while others came from people putting forward their other halves, siblings, parents, friends, neighbours, colleagues, fellow students or Young Farmers.
Words like hard working, rugged and cheerful were often mentioned in connection with the guys, while words like glamorous, a devoted mum, and always puts other people first, were often used to describe the female nominees.
As well as being fun, this competition which FW is running with Dunlop Protective Footwear has a serious side and has been helping to debunk some of the stereotypes about farming by showing that the agricultural industry is a modern and vibrant one.

The Men
Alex Green
“I run the family Somerset farm,” explains Alex. “I enjoy my job and am proud to be a farmer. I also enjoy activities away from the farm; I am a member of the local drama group, which involves a bit of singing and dancing, as well as drinking and chatting!”
Pete Mortimore
Pete epitomises the direction farming needs to go, according to dad, Lloyd. “No straw hat and smock or deer stalker and tweeds – as is sometimes the public’s perception. The sexy modern farmer is happy, caring, hardworking and honest. Whether working on the farm, captaining Paignton RFC or the centre of a party, he is able to motivate people with humour. You’re never down when Pete’s around!”
Paul Crawley
“Paul’s passion for farming, dedication to his cows, pigs, hens and dogs and his fantastic sense of humour make him a hugely sexy farmer,” says girlfriend Madeleine Neale. “Animals, staff and friends all adore him. A great farmer with a big smile, kind eyes and quick wit. He’s also a very fit dad-to-be!”
Joe Tyson
“Joe works on his father’s mixed farm in North Yorkshire,” says girlfriend Holly Nutt. “Not only is he the best-looking farmer, but he is also a valuable asset to the farm. Joe can be relied on in any crisis. His passion and determination to be the best at what he does is inspirational to everyone he meets. Joe is one in a million.”
Richard Sparey
“Richard is one of those good all-rounders – amusing, quick-witted, polite, dedicated to improving his family farm and committed to helping the industry,” say colleagues. “If you want a job done, ask Richard. He’s well informed on everything from last week’s market trends to the latest CAP reform budget. Richard thinks outside the box, whether it’s introducing new genetics to the flock or finding a solution to the impossible at one of the NSA’s sheep events. He’s also good looking!”
The women
Fiona Murley
Fiona is dedicated, conscientious, hard-working and committed to her job, which is the farm manager’s assistant on a 16,000-acre estate,” says friend Sheila Reed. “She is responsible for the welfare of the progeny of a 400-cow herd, and the administration of the herd. Another part of her job is to assist the farm manager with the administration of the arable side of the estate and to pitch in where required, whether it be manning the grain store or helping with any tractor driving that needs doing. She even makes the tea. Fiona is always herself, and you know where you stand with her – making her a great ambassador for the farming industry.”
Emma Martin
Emma, from Cornwall, has all the hallmark attractions of a country woman: a glowing complexion and the toned figure of the physically fit, says Gillian Molesworth of the Western Morning News. “Another element of her sexiness is strength: this intelligent and feminine woman is the main herdswoman for the family’s 900-odd Holstein Friesians. She runs the milking and manages the equipment: she can handle a cattle crush and a hoof grinder. Forget Tess of the D’Urbervilles: this is the Lara Croft of the modern farming generation.”
Tori Fairey
“Tori is the embodiment of British farming,” says partner Ben Stanley. “She is from a non-farming background but has embraced farming life. She works full-time on our farm in Leicestershire, and her responsibilities include chief shepherd. She even managed to win a breed and interbreed title with her tup Blackbrook Aslan at the last Royal Show. Every weekend you will find her on one of our farmers’ market stalls selling our produce with passion. It is her passion for farming and rural life that makes her Britain’s sexiest farmer!”
Vicki Rawlings
“Vicki looks very sexy when she’s greasing the John Deere,” says boyfriend Andrew Howard. “She even looks sexy at 4.30am when she’s in the dairy milking. Vicki is the genuine article. She works from dawn to dusk and still remains charming, vivacious and a delight to know at any time of the day.”
Anna Simpson
I live on a sheep/arable farm in North Yorkshire. We have 250 acres of arable land and 800 breeding ewes, which keep me busy at lambing time. I work four days a week for Green Farm Health selling medicines, livestock equipment, and feed to local farmers. I have three working dogs and enjoy going beating, plus I look forward to having a shoot on beaters day. I love getting stuck in on the farm, but also like to get dolled up for fun girly nights out with my sisters. I want to show everyone that farming is not just men, muck and Wellies, but is much much more!”
