Acton Ayrshires reach high of 9000gns

Last week’s dispersal of virtually the entire Acton herd of Aysrhisre and the Actonfarm herd of Holsteins for John Tomlinson saw an electric trade for the tremendous bloodlines on offer, with a top price of 9000gns paid.

Selling for the day’s best price was Ayrshire cow Acton Saltire Peggy, an Ex92 classified cow by Stevensons Saltire which had been breed champion at Cheshire and Newport Shows this year.

She was sold milking with her third calf having calved in April and was PD’d back in?calf to

Rosehill Blackthorn; she was one of seven daughters of the fifteen year old Ashmansworth Peggy 191, five of which were in the sale. The purchaser was Philip Williams of Leweston, Haverfordwest.

And the underbidder on the top priced lot, Tracey Martin of Torrington, Devon, paid the next best of 7100gns when buying a granddaughter of Ashmansworth Peggy 191.

This was Acton CBC Peggy, a VG86 milking heifer who calved in June. She is by Carnell Bright Crown,

The third top seller was Acton Princess Poker, a VG87 July calved daughter of McCornick Nelson milking with her third calf and out of an Ex90 daughter of Bankend Lord Ontario. She went at 6100gns, being bought by Steve Oultram for his Stamford Herd at Ewloe, Flintshire.

Then at 3400gns was Acton Mandella Peggy 2, a Hunnington Mandella daughter out of Acton Shottle Peggy. She went to Geoff Benson, Tarporley.

 An at 3200gns Jessie Bostock, Biddulph, Stoke?on?Trent, purchased Acton Jubilant Punch, a Brieryside Jubilant Scot daughter out of Killoch Punch.

Following that at 3100gns was Acton Jubilant Rita, another by Jubillant Scot and this time out of Acton Rita 2, a Stamford First Prize daughter. She found a new home with Blaise Tomlinson.

Also at this money was Acton HVG Princess Poker, a Hidden Valley Garth daughter out of Acton Princess Poker which sold to H W Oultram and Co, Flintshire.

Holsteins

Best of the day in the black and white offering was a 4400gns bid for Actonfarm Outside Beatexus 3 an Ex90 daughter of Comestar Outside out of Actonfarm IVAnn Beatexus. She went to Peter Waring for his Winton Herd,  Beverley, East Yorkshire, giving 46kg a day.

Colin Brassington, Roden, Telford, then paid 4000gns for Actonfarm Shottle Beatexus. She’s by Picston Shottle and out of Actonfarm Grandslam Beatexus 5.

 At 3600gns Steve Philipps, herd manager for Andrew Walley’s Cottonabbotts herd, Waverton, Chester purchased Actonfarm Outside Beatexus 2, another by Comestar Outside.

And at the same money was Actonfarm Shottle Ann, a third calver by Picston Shottle which went to Redgate Farming, Peterborough. Mr Brassington was back in the bidding then, paying 3500gns for eight week old heifer calf Actonfarm Talent Beatexus, a Ladino Park Talent out of 4400gns cow Beatexus 3.
