18,000gns new breed record for Lincoln Reds at Newark

 

24.3.2012 LR Lot  2 web.JPGA new breed record price of 18,000gns – and the highest priced animal ever sold at Newark Auction Mart – was paid today at the Lincoln Red Cattle Society’s show and sale.

 

The bull, Beverley Noble, took the championship title and was consigned by Ivan and Martin Clough, Beverley, east Yorkshire and heads north to Scotland with A Mylius, Fife to join his St Fort herd. Noble is by the successful sire Beverley Adventurer. 

 

24.3.2012 LR Lot 17 web.JPGLeading breeder Hedley Needler sold Walmer Nordic – a son of Beverley Henchman – at 10,000gns. This bid matched the previous breed record established in the Newark sale ring two years ago and paid for a bull of almost identical breeding.

24.3.2012 LR Lot 12 web.JPGTapus Nova Scotia – a big winner last summer for owners Mr and Mrs K Beggin, realised 8000gns to Michael Read and Son, Horncastle.

 

Female bidding reached 2400gns given by T Davies, Clapton, Gloucestershire for Michael Read’s in-calf heifer Hemingby Bridget that stood reserve champion. Top ticket went to Walmer Princess N18 from Hedley Needler. Buyers at 1600gns were G L Gent and Son, Peterborough.

 

Averages: 12 bulls £5880; five cows £1795; seven in-calf heifers £1867 and 54 maiden heifers £1237.
