Berkeley dairy dispersal sells to 1,400gns

The dairy section at Sedgemoor Auction Centre was filled with Jerseys as auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt conducted the dispersal of the Berkeley herd for A G and N E Nursaw who are ceasing milk production due to ill health. No less than 34 different purchasers with a very strong Welsh contingent made the most of the 146 Head on offer.

Topping the day was the 2nd calver Berkeley Spring 6th by DJ Lirsk, she had given 3,086kgs on the organic system as a heifer and sold for 1,400gns. Her three week old heifer calf by Hollylane Lilibets Legacy sold after making 270gns.

At 1,200gns was Berkeley Saphire 8th by Molly Brook Hallmark she had also just calved to her 2nd. The freshly calved Berkeley Pansy 2nd sold for 1,000gns in her 6th lactation.

In calf heifers due to DJ May sold to 1,000gns for Berkeley Yvonne 10th. The bulling heifer Berkeley Pansy 3rd by SC Gold Dust Paramount Iatola reached 500gns and yearling heifers to 450gns on two occasions for Berkeley Nancy 7th and Berkeley Saphire 11th.

 

July born heifer calves were in strong demand selling to 270gns on three occasions for daughters of DJ May and Legacy
