Texel gimmer trade was on explosive form at Carlisle on Friday for the Christmas Cracker sale.

Leading the prices at 10,000gns was a gimmer from John Forsyth’s Glenside flock, Maybole, Ayrshire.

Mr Forsyth’s pen and sale leader  was a daughter of 10,000gns 2009 Sire of the Year Strathbogie Python. This gimmer, FPG 1100267, is out of a Muiresk Nearco daughter and goes back to 120,000gns sire Loosebeare Imp. She sold in-lamb to Mellor Vale The One and headed home with  Alasdair Beaton, Slamannan, Falkirk.

Taking the evening’s second top price of 8,500gns was one from Albert and George Howie’s Knock flock, Mintlaw. The Knock pen topper was HAK 1100227, a daughter of Cambwell Rob Roy and out of a dam by Anglezarke Krug. She goes back to Muiresk Heir Apparent and was sold in-lamb to  Sportsman’s Supreme. Buying her was an undisclosed buyer.

Aberdeenshire-based James Innes and Sons then paid 8,000gns for a gimmer from fellow Aberdeenshire breeder Gaham Morrison’s Deveronvale flock. This Glenside Razzle Dazzle daughter,  MGV1100178, is out of a dam by 21,000gns Glenside Lieutentant. She also goes back to Heir Apparent and was sold in-lamb to Strathbogie Terminator.

Then taking a 4,200gns bid was another from Graham Morrision and another by 40,000gns sire Razzle Dazzle. This gimmer, MGV 1100134, is ET bred out of a dam by Haddo Jogger. She also sold carrying to the privately purchased Strathbogie Terminator and was bought by John Forsyth, Glenside.

Following that Albert and George Howie were in the money again at 4,000gns when selling a gimmer by Knock Papoose, HAK 1100277. Another bred by ET she is out of the same Anglezarke Krug sired dam as the earlier 8,500gns gimmer and sold in-lamb to Sportsman’s Trojan II. She was knocked down to Robert Henderson, Stocksfield On Tyne.

And just shy of that at 3,800gns was a Rascarrel gimmer from the MacTaggart family, Castle Douglas. This one, which was bought by Alasdair Beaton, was MTR 110236,  a Didcot Record Breaker daughter out of a dam by Mattadale On Top. She sold in-lamb to homebred tup Rascarel Och Aye.

The next best call was a 3,500gns bid for another from Graham Morrison, Deveronvale. This was MGV 1100182 another by the 40,000gns Razzle Dazzle and this time out of of a dam by Glenside Likeable. Sold in-lamb to 15,000gns Lanark purchase Hen Gapel Thunder she was claimed by Charlie Boden, Cheshire.

Then making 2800gns was another Knock gimmer from the Howies, HAK 1100238. This one is also ET bred and is by Cambwell Rob Roy and out of the same Krug daughter as the two previous Knock gimmers. She sold having been AI’d to 20,000gns sire Sportsman’s Trojan II and was bought by Irena Lewis, Llandysul.
