More than 40 animals made 2000gns or more at Bristol Sales Centre this week when Paul and Jo Andrews sold the milking portion of their Beneknowle Holstein herd.

The top price of 4100gns came for Beneknowle Goldwyn Vaakje 73. This 9700kg heifer due again in October was potentially the eighth generation Excellent and attracted three telephone bidders, one of which, Robert Voyle, Pembrokeshire made the winning call.

Next best was a Goldwyn daughter, Beneknowle Goldwyn Amy 28 when she made 3500gns to Messrs Davies of the Shoreview herd, Tenby, South Wales.

Messrs Voyle then spent again when purchasing Beneknowle Allen Roxy 5 PI at 3100 for their Syfni herd. Two others also sold at this level, the first of which was Beneknowle Shottle Vaakje 72. She went home with A P and J H G Wyatt, Penbryn,. Third at this price was Beneknowle Hanno Vaakje 76 which was snapped up by K B Thomas, Allstar.

Included in the sale was a draft from Terry and Shayne Cox’s Holmead herd which topped at 4000gns for Holmead Geno Joy selling to A J Salter, Crediton.
