A strong show of commercial Limousin bulls met a ready demand from a packed ringside at Brecon and resulted in averages increasing on the year by £431 to £2600.

Ashledge Commander, a Grahams Trooper son from A G Kirton and Sons, led the trade at 4800gns having earlier stood reserve champion in the pre-sale show. Out of homebred Ashledge Rachel whose pedigree goes back to Bedell Lavender one of the Ashledge herd’s foundation bloodlines, Commander sold to repeat buyer T A Craig, Much Wenlock, Shropshire, with a beef value of +36.

Second top on the day was a 3400gns sale for D M Howells, Port Talbot, West Glamorgan, with his first entry at a Society sale from his 12 cow Rhiwllech herd. Taking this call was Rwiwllech Cymro, a May 2007 born son of Kype Tornado and out of Ronick Matador sired Nealford Tina. Buyer on this ocasion was J M Langford, Tregynon, Newtown, Powys.

Two bulls sold at 3100gns, the first was Dyfri Bionic, a son of French import Pantin from D G and M J Edwards and Son which was knocked down to J T Davis, Newtown, Powys.

The second at this money was another from the Kirtons, Ashledge Cannon. This February 2007 born entry is a son of Ashledge Smirnoff and out of Ashledge Polly and sold to join Northamptonshire-based commercial producer D N Morgan, Milton Malsor.
