£6800 lamb price record at Welsh Winter Fair

The champion lambs at the Royal Welsh Winter Fair, Builth Wells, have sold for a record price, making a whopping £3400 apiece to Welsh Country Foods buying on behalf of ASDA.

The lambs from Michael Owens, a regular ASDA LambLink supplier, will, probably form the centrepiece of a display in the store’s Telford supermarket, according to ASDA agricultural manager Pearce Hughes. The underbidder was, I understand Dunbia, buying on behalf Sainsbury.

ASDA also bought the champion pair of lamb carcasses, paying £820 for the pair from Robin Slade.
