Monday’s sale of Aberdeen-Angus bulls saw a top price of 7200gns for the pre-sale reserve champion.
Sale leader at 7200gns was Clackmannanshire-based Jamie Rettie with Hillfoots Elite N247. Sired by Rawburn Transformer, he is out of the successfully shown Hillfoots Evelyn L131, a Balmachie Keystone daughter and carries a SRI of +57 with a direct calving ease of +4.3 and daughter calving ease of +5.7. He found a new home with Messrs Whiteford, Valley Fields, Sanquhar, Dumfries-shire.
Two bulls then shared a price tag of 6800gns. The first of these came from Aberdeenshire-based Neil Wattie and family with the third place Tonley Petrov N937. This Blelack Evor H929 son is out of Tonley Princess K699, an Ankonian Elixir 100 daughter. He carries a milk figure of +16 and a SRI of +47. Buyer here was Craigkelly Farms, Kirkcaldy, Fife.
Next at this money was John Elliot, Roxburgh Mains, Kelso, with Rawburn Elegy N780. This one is a Rawburn Eli L281 son out of the Rawburn Lord Ross C216 daughter Rawburn Elegy F606. He has a TSI of +50, SRI of +60 and +14 for milk and was knocked down to F Hall and Sons, Bishop Aukland, Co Durham.
Next best at 5400gns was Logie Editor N413 for Messrs Bruce, Ellon, Aberdeenshire. This third prize bull by Idvies Kollar J431 is out of Logie Eyebright F481, a Blelack Blackstaff daughter and headed to Garvald Mains Farm, Haddington, East Lothian.
The Wattie family was back in action again, this time selling Tonley Esquire N926 for 5000gns. Again by the 18,000gns Blelack Evor H929, he is out of Tonley Ethel J662, a Hurdcott Elixier E215 daughter. Taking this one home was the Scottish Government Bull Stud, Inverness.
Two bulls shared a price tag of 4000gns, the first being David Walker’s Galcantray Extra N612, a fifth prize Carlurlie Deka H684 daughter. He is out of Findhorn Edwina Eve J165, a Duncanziemere Edwin D148 daughter and sold to Camis Eskan Ltd, Cupar, Fife.
Also at 4000gns was Blelack Lord Hester N162 from Neil and Graeme Massie, Dinnet, Aberdeenshire. This Mac Elvis K085 son is out of Blelack Lady Heather L723, a Netherallan Peter Pershore E052 daughter. Securing this one was knocked down to P J Farmer, Amble, Northumberland.
