Aberdeen Angus female tops Carlisle sale at 5000gns

Although few Aberdeen Angus cattle were forward at the society sale at Carlisle, last week, those that were sold well with a top price of 5000gns for the only cow forward on the day.

Martin Whiting’s Lakewood Rhapsody Z001 took the top bid of the day selling to John Campbell and Son of the Thrunton herd, Alnick. This 2000 born Elgar of the Moss daughter sold with her bull calf Rawburn Elbar at foot.

Angus%20female%205000gns.jpgThe second highest call of the day came for another female, this time for J and K Haywards, February 2005 heifer Lady Croft Princess E135 who also took the reserve supreme championship. With homebred breeding on both sides, she is by Lady Croft Brawny Lad and sold to Messrs Pirie, Kincardineshire for 2700gns.

Topping bull trade at 2500gns was Messrs E A and M C Jones’ 2007 show circuit winning bull Rull Baron. Sired by Blelack Blacksmith he now heads to Shropshire based R E Price having taken the male and overall show championship.
