Aberdeen Angus Penguin Blaze sells for £10,000 in private deal

The Penguin Aberdeen-Angus herd of Bob and Vanessa Lane, Newport, Shropshire, has sold nine month old bull calf Penguin Blaze L456 in a private deal to Red Kite Farms, Henley on Thames, Oxon, for £10,000.

This is the first calf to be sold from the mating of the US sire SAV 004 Predominant 4438 and Canadian dam Bardolia of Peak Dot 963H, which is a daughter of USO Panama 4178.

Red Kite Farms are no strangers to Penguin genetics as they purchased a group of 20 heifers from the herd as foundation females back in 2005 when they established the Redkite herd.

Commenting on the sale Mr Lane said: “We’re really pleased to be able to sell a future junior herd sire to Red Kite Farms and because he is an outcross sire to the Penguin bloodlines they already have he will no doubt compliment the herd very well.”

He added: “It’s been an amazing few months for the Penguin herd for private sales as we have also just sold 10 females and a stock bull to the recently established Cwm herd of Messrs Owen, Angelsey, as well as a recent shipment of Aberdeen-Angus females and a bull to Holland.” Mr Lane also invested 18,000gns in new herd sire Cardona Potter K703, purchased in Stirling last month from the Perth Bull Sales.
