No fewer than 36 lots sold for more than £2000 at Monday’s dispersal of the Acland herd of Holsteins for Messrs Bray Farms, South Molton.acland.JPGLeading the trade on a day which saw milking cows average £1568 was a 2700gns call for Acland Jordan Kosta, a VG87 classified Roylane Jordan daughter which calved in February having given 8000kg as a heifer. This one sold to J S Bird, Axminster.

Closely behind this one at 2400gns was Acland Hansen Dainty, a Winkleigh Hansen daughter, classified VG85. This fresh calved cow gave 6799kg as a heifer.

The sale included what auctioneer Mark Bromell, Kivells, described as an exceptional run of freshly calved heifers which sold to a peak of 2120gns for Molton Home Betsy 66, a Joylan Roxell daughter. Then at 2100gns was Acland Hansen Helen, another Winkleigh Hansen daughter out of Acland Corky Hayes Helen and classified GP84. She sold to D and O Coombes, Blandford, Dorset.

Bulling heifer met an equally strong demand, topping at 950gns for Acland Shottle Cornflower, a Picston Shottle daughter which sold to Messrs Summerhayes and Son, Honiton.
