The British Limousin Cattle Society’s Autumn Show and Sale on Friday (24 October) at Dungannon Livestock Mart saw a top price of 4,100gns with 13 bulls finding homes at an average of £2,382 up £376 a head on the year. Eight females were also sold to a top price of 1,850gns and an average of £1,593.

The top price on the day of 4,100gns went to Annadale Ironman bred by Christopher Murray, Cullyhanna. This April 2013-born bull had been picked by Judge Kevin McGrane, Keady as his reserve intermediate bull champion and is sired by Ampertaine Commander and out of the homebred dam and Nenuphar daughter Annadale Beauty. He now heads to commercial producer James Savage, Portaferry.

Second top price of 2,800gns went to the youngest bull presented at the sale Glarryford Idol bred by Sam and Robin Coleman, Glarryford. This August-2013 born bull is sired by the herd’s stockbull Teeshan Elmo, a Wilodge Vantastic son, and is out of the homebred dam Glarryford Eliza (by Goldies Astrix). The buyer was A McVitty, Newtownbutler.

Third top price of 2,500gns went to class winner Aghadolgan Ironboy bred by R Savage, Coleraine. This July 2013-born bull is sired by Rainbow Simon and is out of the dam Barrons Cansy. New owner is Nigel Rainey, Portadown.

Females

Top female price of the day of 1,850gns went to the female champion Lisnisk Halo bred by J and E Wilson t/a Lisnisk Farms, Ballyroney. This August 2012-born heifer is sired by Ronick Hawk and is out of the homebred dam Lisnisk Annie. She was snapped up by pedigree breeder Kieran McKinley, Silverbridge, Newry.

Second top priced female at 1,600gns also went to J and E Wilson for their June 2012-born heifer Lisnisk Hayley. This heifer is sired by Banville East and is out of the dam Crawfords Clio and now heads to C Tener, Donaghmore.

The third leading price of 1,500gns went to the youngest heifer and class winner Craigatoke Ibis bred by Martin Conway, Plumbridge. This November 2013-born heifer is sired by Swarland Eddie and is out of the homebred dam Craigatoke Envy, a Haltcliffe Underwriter daughter, and was purchased by M Rowe, Derrylee, Dungannon.
