Ayrshire dairy cows topped twice at 3,700gns at the national Ayrshire sale, Carlisle, last week.


First at this money was the homebred Cuthill Towers Romeo daughter Cuthill Towers Regal Ray 11, from A and S Lawrie, Milnathort, Kinross.


Classified VG85 she is out of the Morwick Sand Ranger Red daughter Cuthill Towers Rgeal Ray. She calved just over a month ago and gave 8,149kg in her first lactation. She was purchased by S Williams, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.


Mr Williams was also one of the successful bidders of the joint highest price lot Smartmove Maple Ping, from the Smartmove Syndicate, Berkhamsted, Herts.

This February 2012 Mapleburn Remington daughter is out of the Ex94 classified dam Forever Schoon Ping, by Lagace Modem. She sold in calf to Ardmore Crown Napier, selling in a two way split to A and S Lawrie, Kinross, and S Williams, Pembrokeshire.


Next best at 3,200gns was A and S Lawrie, this time with their September-2012 born bull Cuthill Towers Dreamer Roy. This Nexus Dreamer son is out of Cuthill Towers Regal Ray 5 (Ex94) by Morwick Sand Ranger Red. She gave 12,331kg in her last lactation.


The Lawrie family then earned 2,800gns when selling their in-milk heifer Cuthill Towers Ristourn Apple to AW Dixon, Northumberland.

Sired by Lagace Ristourn she is out of Hilltower Sand Apple Red and last calved in September.


From the same consigners and selling for 2,700gns was the August 2011 born heifer Cuthill Towers Romeo Lindsay. Sired by Cuthill Towers Romeo she is out of Cuthill Towers Lady Lindsay 8 (GP82), who gave 7,749kg. The successful bidder was Alan Norbury, Knutsford, Cheshire.
