Badger cull sees second arrest after assault incident
A second man has been arrested over an incident on a farm in the Gloucestershire badger cull zone.
Police officers working as part of Operation Themis, the policing response to the pilot badger culls, arrested a second man on Thursday (25 September).
The 48-year-old man from Salford, Greater Manchester, was arrested on suspicion of common assault and aggravated trespass. He was released on bail pending further enquiries until 7 October.
The latest arrest follows an incident at a farm at Bromsberrow Heath near Ledbury, on the Gloucestershire-Herefordshire border, at on the evening of Monday, 22 September.
The first man arrested, a 30-year-old from the Bristol area, has been charged with aggravated trespass and common assault . He has been bailed to appear before Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 23 October.
A second year of badger culling began in Gloucestershire and Somerset three weeks ago in a bid to tackle bovine TB.
