Bottom end of cull trade sees big improvement at Sedgemoor

Greenslade Taylor Hunt reported a tight entry of 112 cull stock this week and a further improved trade. 

 

All types were dearer, with the bottom end seeing dramatic improvement. Topping the market was a 159.5p/kg call for an Aberdeen Angus from Messrs D H and H J Churchill. Another of the same breed also achieved 151.5p/kg, this time from Mr R J Phelps. 

 

Continental cows rose to 153.5p/kg for a 823kg Blonde from Mr C C Hayman. Better continentals sold to 140p/kg and over with good cows to 135p/kg.

 

Among the sucklers forward, trade hit ÂŁ1,263.31 for a Blonde, again from Mr C C Hayman, while other good Charolais cows went for ÂŁ1,116.99 from Mr D P Perrin and ÂŁ1,114.87 for an entry from Messrs R C Loveridge and Son.

 

Black and whites also saw an excellent trade with a 140p/kg top for a grade two hiefer from Messrs R N and L A Bell.  Better black and whites sold to 135p/kg and over.  Plain cows sold to about 118p/kg.
