A huge crowd of buyers were in attendance for David and Michelle Evans’ dispersal sale at Llancarfan, Vale of Glamorgan on the weekend, and were bathed in fantastic sunshine throughout the day.

 

The superb herd of predominantly Limousin and British Blue cross suckler cows with Limousin cross calves saw enormous interest from buyers across south Wales and the West Country

 

The herd were in top condition and the feature of the sale was the superb conformation calves at foot, which were a credit to the vendor.

 

The heifers and calves were offered first with the top price of the day was paid for a British Blue cross, born in July 2010. She sold with her Limousin cross steer calf at foot for £2,600 to Davies and Millichap, Tonyrefail. Limousin cross heifers peaked at £2,100 and sold to DR Howells, Tonyrefail.

 

The breeding cows met strong interest and peaked at £2,580 for a British Blue cross third calver and Limousin cross steer calf selling to Davies and Millichap, Tonyrefail. Next was a British Blue cross third calver and steer calf selling to £2,420 to R Williams, Usk.

In-calf cows met strong interest and sold to £1,420 for a Limousin cross Cow (born 2010), while in-calf heifers sold to £1,180.

 

Twenty-three super Limousin cross Maiden Heifers were eagerly sought after and sold to a top of £1,220.

 

The four pedigree stock bulls were a particular feature of the sale and sold to £3,500 for a ‘Bailea’ bred bull born in August 2010.
