British Blue cross tops Skipton bull sale

A British Blue-cross took championship honours for Ken Fawcett and Sons, of Dale Head Farm, Barden, at the annual Spring show and sale of young feeding bulls at Skipton Auction Mart yesterday.

It was the second year in succession that the Fawcetts had clinched the title with a ten-month-old home-bred BB-cross youngster. Like their 2007 victor, it is by Brookfield Vaughan, bought from Stephen Potter, Thirsk, and now in its third year as a sire on the Fawcett suckler herd.

The same buyer was also responsible for the second highest price of the day – £900 for the third prize Belgian Blue bull from E & M Townsend, Clapham.
