Prime cattle hit a high at Ashford Market in Kent this week when David Tilley put forward a homebred British Blue steer for a charity bid to raise money for a secondary school in Tanzania.

The animal was generously bought by Anglo Dutch Meats, Charing for 239.5p/kg.

A British Blue heifer from the same holding also met a solid trade selling for 185.5p/kg with trade for other well fleshed sorts going for between 160-171p/kg.

Although there were fewer sheep on offer than previous weeks, several consignments of well fleshed lambs attracted premium prices in excess of £60 and up to £72.50 for heavyweight Continental crosses from Caroline Worley.
