British Blue trade peaks at 10,000gns at Carlisle

Taking a leading bid of 10,000gns at the British Blue show and sale, Carlisle, was the day’s female and supreme champion Solway View Haribo from Kevin Watret’s Solway View herd, Annan, Dumfriesshire.

This 2012-born maiden heifer is sired by Solway View Dynamite and is the first heifer to be sold from the prolific show winner Solway View Elegance, which won overall breed championship titles at the Royal Highland, Great Yorkshire and Royal Welsh shows last year.

She headed home to Lybster, Caithness, with Ian Sinclair.

 

Three bulls sold for 6,200gns.

First of these was the March 2012-born male champion and overall reserve Almeley Hi Tech from Graham Morgan, Tillington, Herefordshire. Sired by Drybarrows Cawdale he is out of the Greystone Poncho daughter Park U Orthodox. He was purchased by Messrs Beckwith, Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria.

Next at this money was another Almeley consignment by the same sire.

Almeley High Spec won third prize in his class. He is out of the Almeley Wellington daughter Almeley Cindy. Buyer was G and B Dobson, Louth, Lincolnshire.

Last at 6,200gns was Stonebyres Hartley, from A and CS Comrie, Lanark.

Sired by Tamhorn Enterprising he is out of the Tamhorn Sumo daughter Boothlow Cassie. He was bought by NB and IA Armstrong, Silloth, Cumbria.

Next best at 5,500gns was the July-2012 born bull Whitestone Hurricane, from GS and EJ Davies, Llandysul, Ceredigion.

Sired by Tamhorn Sumo he is out of the Greystone The Boss daughter Betws Wispa. Buyer was JR Cussons, Whitby, Yorkshire.

 

Selling at 5,200gns was the reserve male champion Newton Blues Geordie, from Malcolm Telfer and Helen Claxton, Stocksfield, Northumberland.

Born in December 2011 he is sired by Empire D’OChain he is out of Newton Blues Candice. He found a new home with DC Rees and Son, Brecon, Powys.

 

The Ferguson Brothers, Linlithgow, West Lothian, secured JC Innes and Sons’ Strathbogie Harry with a bid of 4,500gns. Sired by Nether Hall Buster he is out of the Dafydd D’OChain daughter Brennand Asti.

 

Two heifers traded at 2,700gns.

The first of these was Andys Gina from local vendor A Ryder, Carlisle, Cumbria.

Sired by Bringlee Waldo and out of Annanwater Andrea she was purchased by DA Wilson, Lockerbie, Dumfriesshire.

 

Second at this money and from the same vendor was Ryden Izzy, sired by Annanwater Vince and out of Andys Empress. Buyer was S and S Hough, Pontefract, West Yorkshire.
