Next best call of 5000gns was made twice, the first sale at this money was for another ET bred entry, this time a 2005-born Affute Du Ry Ossogne daughter out of Ridge Deam Totty, Annanwater Andrea. Sold with her September-born heifer calf at foot, by Gitan Du P’Tit Mayeur, Andrea has a carcass yield index off +15 and sold to Andy Ryder and Kevin Watret, Moffat.
The second 5000gns bid was made by Sharplaw Farms, Hownam, Kelso, for a March 2008 born heifer calf, Annanwater Deirdre. This one is another bred by ET and is out of Springfield Tinga and by Gitan Du P’Tit Mayeur. Sold with a carcass yield index of +9, Deirdre was sold still suckling her recipient dam.
In at 4800gns were Messrs F and D McVicar, Lephinchapel, Argyll when they succesfully secured Annanwater Donal, yet another ET bred calf. This bull calf, again by P’Tit Mayeur, is out of Annanwater Venice and has a carcass yield index of +3.
At 4500gns Messrs Raine were back in the bidding, paying that money for Annanwater Vera. A formerly sucessful show cow, September 2003-born ET-bred Vera is by Affute Du Ry Ossogne and out of Ridge Dean Totty.
The final British Blue sale above 4000gns was a 4100gns call from J Strathern, Whins of Milton, Stirling, when buying June 2008 born ET-bred bull calf, Annanwater Duke. Again by P’Tit Mayeur, this one is out Annanwater Venice and sold with a carcass yield index of +5.
Among the other breeds on offer the best call was 3800gns for Beef Shorthorn cow Cairnsmore Zsa Zsa. This roan cow was sold in calf and is by Fearn Scotsman and out of Cairnsmore Twilight. Sold with a terminal sire index of +4 and self replacing index of +3, Zsa Zsa went to A Bell, Eden Lodge, Gordon.
Going at 3700gns was the top-priced Limousin, Annanwater Vogue. By French sire Jockey and out of Simbo Mabel, this one sold with her Bailea Amazon-sired bull calf, Annanwater Duval, at foot to J P and C M A Campbell, Kirkton Manor, Peebles.
Average: 73 cows and heifers £1010.22 (Harrison and Hetherington).
