Broadford Holsteins sell to 2500gns

Top price at last week’s dispersal of the Broadford herd of Holsteins for H C C Francis and Son, Billingshurst, was 2500gns for the fresh third calf Broadford Present 184, a daughter of Moet Nansen sold giving 50.6 kg a day. She was purchased by R J and C M Williams of Sontley, Wrexham.

The same buyers then bought the next top seller, Broadford Fannie 375, a fresh calved heifer by Atlas with three generations of Ex dams at 2450gns.

Next in the list of top sellers was the fresh heifer Broadford Edith 185 a daughter of the Shottle son, Nethanvale Mel with two Excellent dams. She was one of 10 head purchased by Spotacre Farms of Stone.

Making the long journey to Stinchcombe, Gloucestershire, was the August calved heifer Broadford Lily 115, a daughter of Drake selling to E and M H Sheldon for 2300gns.

Averages; 89 cows and milking heifers ÂŁ1831.48, seven served heifers ÂŁ1507.50, 38 maiden heifers ÂŁ1052.76 (Wright Manley).
