The First sale to disperse the Holstein and Brown Swiss herds of J M Williamson and

Sons of Hield House Farm, Northwich, saw a top of £3,000 at Beeston Castle Auction last week.

 

The highlight of the sale was the last lot through the ring, the unregistered two and half year old Brown Swiss stock bull which sold for £3,000 to R E Studley, Farndon.

 

Milkers sold to £1,880 for a January calved Holstein heifer sold giving 30 kg daily to Charles Sherwin, Middlewich. Next best was £1,780 for a pedigree milking heifer bred in the Budworth Herd. She calved last September and was back in?calf again to Shottle for the autumn. She sold to Rob Swain, Market Drayton.

 

The top price Brown Swiss was £1,520 for a February calved heifer selling to Messr Roycroft of Market Drayton.

 

In?calf Heifers sold to £1,700 for a Holstein selling to J A and M H Wright of Sandbach and recently served heifers were up to £960 for a Brown Swiss.

 

Averages: 67 cows £1,142.39; 13 served heifers, £1,001.54; 1 Bull £3,000.00; 81 head, £1,142.72. (Wright Manley)
