Brisk trade was seen at Beeston Castle Auction with the dispersal of the Charlesdale herd of pedigree Holstein and Brown Swiss cattle, on behalf of C N Stevens and Sons Farmers, Derbyshire.

 

Topping the sale at 2600gns was the Brown Swiss, Charlesdale Jolt Joanne 3, a daughter of Hilltop Acres T Jolt calved in July and was giving 24.2kg. She joins the herd of H G Middleton and Son who also purchased her dam, a cow due with her third calf for 1450gns.

 

Top price Holstein was the fresh heifer, Charlesdale Lancelot Budge, a fresh heifer sired by Lancelot, purchased by Messrs Elkin and Hitchcox, Stone, also purchased the first cross Brown Swiss dry cow Charlesdale Absolute Marcie due with her second calf in October for 2050gns.

 

In-calf heifers sold to 1550gns for a Red and White cow. Brown Swiss heifer calves sold to 850gns for a purebred daughter of Hilltop Acres T Jolt.
