Caithness Livestock Centre hosted its annual April show and sale of store cattle this week, which saw the overall championship go to an April 2007-born 402kg yearling cross Charolais heifer from Stainland and Sibmister Farms, Castleton which was purchased by Carrie Mcadie, Bowertower for £710.

The champion animal will make a return appearance in the ring at Caithness in December. Buyer Carrie Mcadie purchased the heifer as her forthcoming entry in the Young Farmers’ Competition which will be judged at the annual Christmas show and sale.The reserve championship also went to Stainland and Sibmister Farms, Castleton for their April 2007-born 368kg Charolais heifer which fetched £650 to Angus Cumming, Tillydesk, Ellon.

The next event at Caithness Livestock Centre will be a sale of prime and breeding stock, store lambs, feeding ewes and rams on Tuesday, April 15.
