Calved heifer sells for £3045 at Sedgemoor

A record entry at Sedgemoor’s Christmas Cracker Show and Sale saw a top price of £3045 for a calved heifer.

 

Moorshard Silky Marie is from four generations of VG and a show winning family and was sold by R K and S G Miller and Sons. She joins the well known Ruckshall herd of P J Andrews, Herefordshire.

 

Christmas Cracker champion.jpgThe reserve champion, Mendip Outside May 2 sold to the same purchaser for 2700gns. She is a second calver by Comestar Outside, classified VG85 as a heifer and was put forward by Tim Quick from the Mendips.

 

 

Christmas Cracker res champ.jpgTwo entries sold for the next best price of 2450gns. The first of which was Walkabout Riki 2, a calved heifer consigned by E G Gay and Sons. At the same money was the Picston Shottle daughter, Treetop Shottle Jasmine, sold by Jeff and Lucinda Morgan.

 

Of the bulls on offer, a top price of 2000gns was achieved by R H Harris with Winkleigh BX Sharp, by Emerald-AXR-SA T Baxter and from the Tallent Sheila family.

 

30 in-calf heifers, due in the spring, travelled from the Isle of Wight and sold to 1650gns for Brian Morris’ Nunwell Peridot Katrina 5. She is by Delta Peridot and out of a 11,000kg dam.

 

A small entry of Jerseys sold to 1200gns for Hareplain Bombers Elizabeth from S E Lane and Partners of Kent.

 

The 16 month old heifers topped at 890gns with an entry from R and J Bowles. Sidedowns Tiergan Kersch 228 has a PLI of £146.

 

At the next best money were commercial heifer calves from T I Miller and Partners seeling for 560gns.
