Berrichon Du Cher sold to a top of 750gns for the reserve champion from the pre-sale show at Carlisle last week.

The sale topper was Newark Lorne, a ram lamb by Newark 05 055 and out of a homebred dam by HMS 02 860 from Frances Barbour, Sanqhuar. This one sold to T Dick and Son, Peebles.

Second best of the day was a 580gns sale for another tup lamb from the Newark flock, this time Newark Lightening which had stood second at the Royal Highland Show. This was also by the homebred sire and out of a dam by HMS 02 860. He sold to H C Blythe, Maybole.

And another by the same sire, Newark Lloyd, this time out of a dam by homebred sire 05 044, then sold at 550gns to J and Z Kirk, Low Kirkbride, Auldgirth.

Averages; five shearling rams £453.60, 10 ram lambs £507.15, four shearling ewes £375.38, eight ewe lambs £269.06 (Harrison and Hetherington).
