Carlisle Hereford sell to new record at 5500gns

A new Hereford sale record was set at Borderway Mart, Carlisle at the early Spring Sale last Friday.  Romany 1 Gambler, a son of UK Sire of the Year, Baybridge Atlas, from J R B Wilson & Sons, Cowbog, Kelso, sold for 5500gns. “Gambler” out of Romany 1 Lucy, a daughter of Remitall Online, was purchased by John Little Farmers, Chelmsford, Essex, to join their successful Reydon Herd. The eighteen month old bull is in the top 1% of the Breed for 200, 400, 600 day weight, eye muscle area, Terminal Sire Index (+38) and Self Replacing Index (+45).Also from the Romany herd came the next leading price tag of 2100gns for Romany 1 Godzilla, another 18 month old bull. Sired by SMH Calgary and out of a heifer Romany 1 Lucy A41 E8, a Romany 1 Atlas bred daughter. “Godzilla” travels to Cheshire for G Green & Son of Northwich. The Wilsons’ sold a further bull to average £3,290 for the three.

J.A. Cameron & Son of Fife sold Baldinnie 1 Rocket for 2000gns to T D J Roderick, Gower, South Wales. A son of the successful show bull Panmure 1 Dynamic and out of Baldinnie 1 Ruth, who was also a renowned show cow, “Rocket” joins the Welsh based Brangwyn herd.
