Herefords sold to a high of 3,000gns at the Autumn Show and Sale, Carlisle, last Friday (24 October). The top price lot was John A Cameron and Son’s bull, Baldinnie 1 Storm. Sired by Baldinnie 1 Orient and out of Baldinnie 1 Super Gal 9th, this homebred bull has a TSI of +42, putting him in the top 1% of the breed. He went home to Natfarm, Lancaster, Lancashire.

Next at 2,000gns a piece was another bull and the top price female, both from the same vendor.

The bull, Baldinnie 1 Spartacus, sired by Dorepoll 1 499 Einsteine and out of Baldinnie 1 Super Gal 3rd, sold to C Nicholson, Hexham, Northumberland.

Meanwhile the heifer Baldinnie 1 Ruth 35th, sired again by Dorepoll 1 499 Einsteine and out of Baldinnie 1 Ruth 18th, sold to JE Sharp, Ulvesrston, Cumbria, for the same money.

Averages: Four bulls, £2,100; one female, £2,100.
