Carlisle show potentials hit £4800
Top price at Carlisle’s two day show and sale of steers and heifers with show potential was a £4800 call in Friday’s sale for a Limousin heifer from Robert and Michael Scott, Thirwall Castle, Carlisle. Taking the top price for the family was their stylish black heifer. This one, by Cloughhead Titanic, sold to R J Wilkinson, Carlay, East Stockwith.
Next best among the heifers was a £2600 sale for a British Blue cross from A J and F M Harrison, Grange Hall, Appleby.This one by Boomer Tigger sold to Andrew Richardson, Appleby.
And at £2500 was the overall champion on the day, a Limousin cross from Martin Archer, Carrry House. She was by French sire Ananas. She sold to Ian and Dorothy Goldie, Greenfield, Cummertrees. 
And making £2200 was a Limousin cross heifer from Messrs Graham, Millerhill, Gilisland, which sold to Gavin Scott, Linlithgow.
While at £2150 was a Blue cross heifer from Castlewigg Farming Co, Newton Stewart, she is by Lochside Boris and sold to T A Lyon, Thurlby, Lincs. Finally at £2000 was a six month old black heifer from Kilnstown Farms, Bewcastle, a daughter of Burndale Stewart, she sold to Staplegrove Livestock, Devon.
In Saturday’s sale of steers the leading price was a £4300 bid for a Limousin cross by Lumbylaw Talent from Thomas and James Whiteford, Tercrosset, Brampton. This seven month old steer was reserve champion in the pre-sale judging and sold to Staplegrove Livestock, Cullompton, Devon.
Then at £3700 was a steer by a Limousin x British Blue bull from P Dean, Allerbeck Farm, Lockerbie. This one was bought by L Bamforth and Sons, Halifax.
Making £2600 was the champion from the pre-sale show, a Limousin cross by a sire carrying Liscon bloodlines. This one, from Messrs Graham, Millerhill, sold to show judge Phil Sellers, Belper, Derbyshire.
At £2100 was a British Blue cross from Colin and Susan Little, Mayfield. This son of Woldnewtown Rambo and out of a pure Limousin cow sold to T A Lyon. And selling for £2000 was a Limousin cross steer from P Dean. This one sold to Jim Hollingsworth, Mold, Clwyd.
Then at the same money was a red bullock from Messrs Trafford, Kewick. By the herd’s stock bull Stablier he sold to John and Marion Paul, Johnstone Bridge.
