Carlisle Simmentals see 4500gns peak

Selling for the joint top call of 4500gns at last Friday’s sale of Simmentals at Carlisle was June 2008-born bull Braegarrie Warrior from Messrs Currie. This is a Corskie Regal son out of South Park King Kong Alice 4, a Whitemere King Kong daughter. Selling with a TSI of +23 and an SRI of +26, he was bought by S McBryde, Lochmaden, Lockerbie.

simm april (hutch)6s.jpgAlso making this money was Pasturehouse Wizard, a Harestone Hercules son out of Distillery Shelly, a Caistor Kaiser daughter. Forward from Messrs Peile, he was bought by J Gemmell and S Earnshaw, Walton, Wakefield.

simm april (hutch)8s.jpgAt the next best of 4000gns was Tilbrook Wainwright, a Kilbride Farm Newry son out of Hockenhull Claire 9, a Blackford Harvester daughter, from Peter Burgess. This one with a TSI of +24 and an SRI of +26 sold to Messrs McDowall and Co, Culquhasen, Newton Stewart.

simm april (hutch)12s.jpgAt 3000gns was Fole Wavelength, a Fole Telstar son out of Fole Dior 10, a Greenlea Mountineer daughter. Bred by J H Ede, he sold to R and I Watson, High Borgue, with a TSI of +26 and an SRI of +33.

Then at 2800gns was Copper Mill Warbler, a Milnaufa Keystone son out of Copper Mill Katie’s Samantha. He has a TSI of +11 and an SRI of +13 and sold to A F Young and Co, Canonbie.

FEMALES

Topping the prices in the female offering was Blakewell Pandora’s Virginia, a Blakewell Subzero daughter out of Blakewell Gayles Pandora. Sold in calf to Blakewell Warrior, she was forward from I and M Steele and sold to C M R Soutar, Arbroath, Angus at 2000gns.

Selling at the same price was Blakewell Judith’s Valerie, another by Subzero and this time out of Blakewell Fiona’s Judith. Again in calf to Warrior, she sold to the same buyer.

Averages; 14 bulls £2610, two cows served/suckling £1417.50, 10 served heifers £1375.50, eight maiden heifers £1078.88 (Harrison and Hetherington).
