Trade peaked at 3,200gns at the Charollais Sheep Society’s Premier sale at Dunngannon, Northern Ireland, this week (28 July).

Trade topper was Tullyear Oman, a ram lamb from the Tullyear pen of Drew and Stephen Cowan, Banbridge, Co Down. Oman is a son of Foulrice Nuria – top priced ram Lamb at Worcester Premier 2013 – which was purchased by Eddie Buckleys Kilbarry Flock. Oman’s maternal sire is Tullyear Krackerjack . He was was purchased by Friarstown Charollais, County Leitrim.

Next best at 2,100gns was the day’s champion, a powerful shearling ram from the Artnagullion Flock of William McAllister, Ballymena, Co Antrim. This Ballyhibbon Kickstart son sold to a consortium of English and Welsh breeders.

Making 2,000gns was a first prize ram lamb from Jonathan Aiken’s Carnew Flock, Dromara, Co Down. Sired by Lord Mayor he is bred from the multi prize winning Carnew Jo. Buyers were Southern Breeders Eddie O’Gorman and Eddie McCarthy.

Next at 1,700gns was William McAllister with his first prize Kickstart son, which sold to County Donegal.

First prize in the late December born class came from the Bunderg Flock of Robert and Gary Scott. Sired by Rhaeadr Magic this well muscled ram sold to William McAllaister for 1,600gns.

The female and reserve champion ewe lamb from Stephen Macauley;s Erenagh flock, Downpatrick, Co Down, made 1,100gns when he sold to County Tyrone Breeder Neville Martin.

Averages: 18 shearlings, 634gns; 70 ram lambs, 610gns; eight ewe lambs, 512gns.
