Charollais tups reach 800gns at Carlisle

Top call at last week’s Charollais sale at Carlisle was an 800gns call for a ram lamb from James Clanachan’s Maryholm flock.

This one is by Castellau Joules and out of a dam by Foulrice Falcon and sold to S G Benson, Pennington, Ulverston.

Then a pair sold at 750gns, with the first being the pre-sale champion, a shearling ram from John Geldard. This was a Gogwell Ice-Cream Man son out of a dam by Gogwell Humpty Dumpty. He was bought by Herbie Kennedy, Parkgate.

The other at this price was a tup lamb from I and E Spence’s Benmore flock. Sired by Benmore Juan Sheet, he is out of a dam by Southam Erotic and was knocked down to D Garthwaite and Son, Kirtlebridge.

A pair of shearlings sold at 650gns, with the first being a Ballynoe House Isaac son from Charles Marwood. He sold to J Howatson, Newton Stewart. And the same buyer then took a Parkgate Jack son from John Geldard at the same money.
