Champion honours at the Aberdeen Christmas Classic at the Thainstone Centre went to Limousin cross heifer Pussy Cat Doll from Bert and Patsy Paton, their daughter, Wendy, and her husband, Stuart Hunter.
This one, weighing in at 544kg, was bought at the Thainstone Spectacular in September for £4200 from Simon and Sue Stephen. She had previously been reserve lightweight heifer at last week’s Royal Highland Winter Fair and sold for £4600 to Donald Russell Butchers.
Reserve honours also went to the Paton family with Limousin cross steer Zing Zilla. This 624kg entry is by Middledale Toronto. He was bred by Ian Wilson and sold to James Allan, of Falkirk-based butcher Malcolm Allan and Son for £2200.
In the event’s sheep section the championship went to Calum Angus and his wife, Vivienne, with a pair or near pure Beltex lambs. These sold to Scotch Premier Meat for £130/head.
Reserve sheep champions were a pair of Beltex crosses from Angus Greenlaw. These were bought at £110 by Forbes Raeburn and Son, Huntly.
