Clonagh Simmentals sell to E8000

UK breeders were the big spenders at last weekend’s reduction of Garrett and Lydnsey Behan’s Clonagh Simmental herd at Tullamore, Eire, when they claimed all five top priced lots.

Taking the day’s top call of E8000 was one of the herd’s prolific breeders Clonagh Posh Klowna. By Anatrim Jacob, this 2003-born cow sold in-calf to the herd’s stock sire Banwy T Rex to an undisclosed UK buyer.

Then at E6600 was her 11 month old son, Clonagh World Class by Kilbride Farm Newry. This one sold to Bridget Borlase, Hertfordshire, to join the 140-cow Sacombe herd as junior herd sire. And the same buyers were responsible for the next top price when they paid E5000 for November 2007-born heifer Clonagh Venus. She’s by Kilbride Farm Newry and out of Clonagh Princess Joan and was intermediate champion at the National Show.

Averages; females E2730, bulls E4250 (Tullamore Livestock Mart).
