Consistent lamb trade at Knighton

McCartneys Knighton Market reported an entry of 1,255 prime lambs and 696 cull sheep at Knighton market.

The lamb trade was consistent with that of the week, being slightly easier, averaging 170.22p/kg and selling to 180p/kg for 44.50kg Texel x lambs to £80 a head from JHA Price 7 Son, Goat House. Also to 178.20p/kg for 45kg Charollais x lambs to £80.20 a head from EJ Davies and Sons, Little Cwmgilla. Top price a head was £85.20 for 53kg Texel x lambs from WRL Price and Co, Pencwm. Also £82 a head for 51kg Suffolk x lambs from A J & J A Powell, The Grove.

A more difficult ewe trade averaged £46.36 a head and sold to £88.50 a head for Texel ewes from BW Gittins, Rhespass. Also to £78 a head for Texel x ewes from both K and J Davies, Cefncoch and DM Wilding, Blaenycwm. Mule ewes sold to £66.50 a head from E Richards and Sons, Lower Bailey. Also to £63 a head for Mule ewes from PA Goodwin, Lower Stanage. Welsh ewes sold to £44.50 a head from HN Hodnett and Son, Brookhouse. Also to £41.50 a head for Welsh ewes from JT and JE Lloyd, The Corner and T A Swancott and Son, The Lawn.
