Welsh buyers dominated proceedings at the dispersal sale of the milking portion of the Cotswold herd of Holsteins for Richard and Brenda Robinson, with a total of 38 of the 100 cows and calved heifers heading to Wales.
Breeze Farms, Llanfyrnach, Pembrokeshire, paid the joint top price of 2550gns for VG85 heifer Cotswold Bolton Thelma, a third generation VG daughter of Sandy Valley Bolton. She was due with her second calf by Magor Bolivia Allen in November. Her Picston Shaker sired dam had recorded 12,346kg in her second lactation.
Also paying 2550gns were Gloucestershire buyers P W and D P Round and Son, when buying Cotswold Magic Tammy, a freshly calved heifer sired by the homebred stock bull Cotswold Magic. She was bred from three generations of VG and Excellent cows.
Calved heifer Cotswold Jordan Nancy sired by Roylane Jordan then sold for 2500gns to Thomas Plas, Carmarthen. Her dam was a 12,550kg cows by Comestar Outside bred in the Lavenham herd.
Cows sold to 2300gns for second calver Cotswold Bradley Lilly 2, a VG85 daughter of Rockali Bradley that had given 9856kg as a heifer. She was purchased by P W and D P Round and Son.
In-calf heifers peaked at 2000gns for Baxter daughter Cotswold Baxter Mascotta purchased by R C and H A Gallop of Slimbridge, Gloucestershire.
